Privacy Statement
Your privacy and trust are very important to us. This document explains how Laboremus Uganda Limited processes personal information about you. Processing covers any operation which is performed upon collected data by automated means or otherwise including collecting, storing, sharing, transferring, handling, and protecting the data.
Scope of document
This document applies to data subjects and individuals who access, use and/or interact with our products, services, websites, digital properties, platforms, software, and applications including mobile applications, and those who attend our events. This document does not pertain to situations where we are serving as a processor or service provider managing personal information on behalf of a third party.
Personal data that we process and how we use it
We process personal data about you through interactions with you and through our products including Streamline. You provide some of this data directly, while we might also process personal data through collecting data about your interactions via customer support channels or through cookies. We might process personal information from third parties such as partners and service providers. As a credit infrastructure entity providing Know-Your-Customer infrastructure, we might use your information to help prevent unlawful acts including money laundering, counterterrorism financing, and fraud.
Where you give consent by signing up to receive promotional material, we shall use your personal data to provide such material. Other scenarios where we might use your personal data:
- Communicate with you regarding important notices and product changes
- Market our other services
- Facilitate reporting and analyze performance
- Provide webinars or presentations
- Provide support by responding to requests and resolve support requests
- Provide usage reports
As a data subject you have the right to decline when personal data is requested. However, many products require personal data to function.
Types of data we collect from you
Such information may include:
- Name and contact data including names, email address, phone number
- Account credentials for security and authentication
- User content such as communications and files
- Usage information and browsing history
- Payment information
- Identifiers such as unique identification numbers and cookie identifiers
- Images or photographs from office visits or sponsored events
If you interact directly with staff or participate in research, we may process your requests, questions, and responses via forms or email; social media information; your date of birth; geographic information such as region and country; and information to verify your identity.
How we may disclose your information
Entities providing access to our services may have access to your personal information. We collaborate with business partners for co-branded services and co-selling activities. Service providers and sub-processors may use your information to assist in providing our services, including sales, marketing, analytics, research, data storage, and security.
Should our ownership change or assets are sold, we may transfer your information so services can continue. Your information would remain subject to this statement's promises until updated. We may comply with lawful processes from law enforcement, and you shall be notified unless prohibited by law or court order.
Storage, transfer, protection and retention of your information
We take technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. No method of internet transmission or storage is absolutely secure, but we have mitigation measures constantly updating safeguards. Information about you shall be stored in Uganda. We shall retain your information for the period necessary to fulfil outlined purposes unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Personal data relating to children
We do not intentionally collect personal data from individuals under eighteen (18) years as our services are not aimed at children. However, if discovered, we shall ensure processing is in accordance with law and for legitimate purposes.
Legal basis for use of your information
Our legal basis for collecting and processing your information depends on the particular type and context. Some legal reasons include: where use is necessary to perform contract obligations, where use is necessary for our legitimate interest or others' legitimate interests, and where use is necessary to comply with legal obligation. More specifically we may use personal information for:
- Account setup and administration including management, access credentialing, technical and customer support, and training
- Relationship administration involving invoices and communication
- Understanding customer patterns to enhance services
- Handling inquiries and complaints, and event management
- Screening and investigation activities
- Content delivery and personalization
- Marketing and surveys
- User-generated content for collaboration and information exchange
- Legal and regulatory compliance, security and protection, business operations, crime prevention and investigation, and legal compliance and defense
Marketing
We communicate marketing and event information through email, telephone, text messaging, direct mails, and online platforms. We shall request explicit opt-in consent for marketing communication. Marketing messages include instructions on how to opt out of future communications.
You have the right to opt out of direct marketing and targeted online advertising. We employ cookies and related methods to deliver targeted marketing content. We may use email tracking technology to assess engagement. To opt out, you can utilize the "Contact Us" feature, specific opt-out mechanisms provided with marketing communications, discuss with a Laboremus contact, or any other means available.
Your rights
Upon request to our Data Protection Officer, and subject to applicable legal expectations, we will:
- Provide access to and/or a copy of certain information we hold about you
- Provide information about categories of information collected or disclosed, sources, business or commercial purpose, and categories of third parties receiving information
- Prevent processing of your information for promotional purposes
- Update information which is out of date or incorrect
- Delete certain information we have about you
- Restrict how we process and disclose some of your information
- Transfer your information to a third-party provider
- Revoke your consent for processing
We may take further steps to verify requests concern you or that you are authorized. Certain information may be exempt from such requests in special circumstances, such as legal obligations.
Changes to this document
We shall be updating this document from time to time to ensure it accurately reflects data protection and privacy standards. Changes shall be duly communicated.
